Professor Dr. Md. Harun-or-Rashid was born in Mirzaganj, Patuakhali, Bangladesh. He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from Dhaka Dental College in 1991. In the same year, he joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) through the 13th BCS Examination, marking the beginning of his distinguished career as a government physician.
With a keen interest in advancing his professional expertise, he pursued postgraduate studies at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), where he successfully earned a Master of Surgery (MS) degree in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. This achievement positioned him among the leading specialists in this field in Bangladesh.
To further enhance his leadership and management skills, Professor Dr. Harun-or-Rashid received advanced training at the Macquarie University Graduate School of Management (MGSM), Sydney, Australia. This international exposure broadened his perspective and strengthened his ability to integrate modern practices into Bangladesh’s dental and surgical healthcare sector.
Throughout his career, Professor Dr. Harun-or-Rashid has demonstrated remarkable dedication to patient care, clinical excellence, and medical education. He served as the Head of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Dhaka Dental College, where he played a pivotal role in developing academic programs, expanding clinical services, and mentoring future generations of dental surgeons.
At present, he is serving as a Professor in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Dhaka Dental College, where he continues to contribute significantly through teaching, research, and clinical practice. His professional journey reflects a strong commitment to advancing oral and maxillofacial surgery in Bangladesh and ensuring high-quality healthcare delivery to patients.
